For Paris Destination Expert—and co-founder of Cmycities—Larissa Jounot, the road to Paris has been a winding one. Although she fell in love with it on a daytrip as a girl, she’s lived intermittently in Asia and the UK as well. It’s no wonder that Cmycities came about, born of a passion.
I’ve come a long way to Paris since growing up near Angoulême in Western France! I remember the first time I came here as a girl, to visit Versailles and the Eiffel Tower—it was love at first sight. I promised myself then I would live here when I grew up, and I kept that promise to myself, coming to live here first for 6 years after studying Foreign Trade…
Travel says everything about my life! I did an exchange in Germany when I was 12, worked as an au pair in England at 18, then went back again as in intern, and again sometime later…
I’ve always used professional excuses to explore the world!
I first worked for a large business travel company based in Paris for five years and traveled all over, roots-style with a backpack. I took extra-long bus trips mainly in Asia and Africa, always staying on when I was sent somewhere for work… or wandered around European capitals for a weekend. I love exploring places, experiencing the local way of life… I’ve always found losing myself in places I have never been to fascinating.
I got distracted by another passion, for Asia, triggered by a trip to Malaysia in 2002. I moved there in 2006, living in Singapore then Vietnam for 6 years.
But with the eternal flame for Paris still burning, I finally came ‘home’.
I love walking around, or even rollerblading… just getting lost in my own city… Or sitting in a café or doing all that there is going on culturally by day, the night scene by night—you’ll find me in the front row at concerts!
These days the traveling I do is more comfortable, even luxury travel suits me! Plus I need to fit the logistics of my travel plans around my 3 kids…
I’ve lived and worked abroad more than I’ve worked in France and have always enjoyed welcoming my friends or friends of friends to my temporary life… Helping people with their travel plans has become second nature… It’s something I do with great pleasure and always take very seriously.
So it was natural that we thought of Cmycities, as it is exactly what we all do when we have friends visiting, wherever we may be living.
For me ‘sharing’ is the most important… I am happy when people are happy.”

“We flew like birds in Madrid with the teleferico across the casa del campo, gliding just above the houses and trees. Wonderful day!”

“My husband and I spent a week in Cape Town last march. Amber was my contact at Cmycities and I must say she was great helping us make our stay the most enjoyable possible! Amber is easy to get in touch with and is extremely reactive. She gave us tailor-made advices, as I had been in Cape Town only once, years ago (loved Green Market Square and the Truth Coffee).
I particularly appreciated her good tips (we were looking for running spots and found great ones at the Sea Point Waterfront) and addresses that no guide tour would have given me (girl-to-girl best spots like shopping in the Watershed) but also lots of groovy attractions for the two of us. “

“I had a wonderful last minute week-end in London two months ago… Cmycities London helped me find a hotel, select a musical and recommended the Saatchi Gallery, which was really for me an amazing experience. I can only recommend Marie-Pascale, for the personal touch I am always looking for when I travel… and I can’t wait to travel again with Cmycities! “

“We had the most incredible experience in Paris a few weeks ago! The trip was a surprise long weekend for our 5 year-old daughter birthday and it was just perfect! Her eyes are still sparkling, maybe from seeing the Eiffel Tower?! We managed to keep a day out at Disneyland as a surprise. It’s a family trip we’ll never forget! “

“I only had a short stay in Sao Paulo but I was lucky to have Andre to show me around and point me in the right direction. He knows all the good spots and fun areas, and you can definitely tell how much he loves his city! I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible city!
I highly recommend getting in touch with him before your stay!
Thanks again Andre :)”
