New York Destination Expert Edie Meyer grew up near the Big Apple and finally settled there. But that hasn’t stopped her travelling quite a bit herself…
“I grew up about 35 miles outside of New York in a small town on Long Island’s North Shore called Oyster Bay. As a child I was always thrilled to visit NYC, and have now been living here for many years.
What I love about the city and area where I live is the wonderful energy and friendly and colorful people. When not working in business development for art-related companies, I spend my free time walking my dog (we especially love Central Park), riding a bike to get around town, visiting galleries and museums and discovering new restaurants with friends. There are so many choices of things to eat, not just burgers and cupcakes, but a lot of food that we’ve adopted from the mix of cultures that have settled in NYC.
I also had the opportunity to live in London for about 8 years before returning to NYC two years ago. I adore both cities and am happy to have friends in both places!
And I’ve been coming and going quite a lot recently! This year alone I’ve been to France, Barbados, Austria for skiing, London and Venice. Not to mention exploring my home country a bit by visiting places like Florida and Charleston. My next trip is to California to visit the redwoods.
Although I love all my trips, I especially appreciate visiting friends in far-flung places. For example, my friends who are expats in Shanghai gave me such interesting insight into their adopted home. I feel strongly that having inside knowledge of a place is essential for a great trip. This is why I have gotten involved with Cmycities, there are so many New York’s to experience. I want to help visitors to NYC discover their favorite parts.
I’m passionate about travel and love to share what I find! I’m constantly researching and taking notes on new things to explore in my home city of New York. Get in touch and I can tell you about them!”
Edie speaks English fluently (but can order food in French, Italian and Spanish!)

“We flew like birds in Madrid with the teleferico across the casa del campo, gliding just above the houses and trees. Wonderful day!”

“My husband and I spent a week in Cape Town last march. Amber was my contact at Cmycities and I must say she was great helping us make our stay the most enjoyable possible! Amber is easy to get in touch with and is extremely reactive. She gave us tailor-made advices, as I had been in Cape Town only once, years ago (loved Green Market Square and the Truth Coffee).
I particularly appreciated her good tips (we were looking for running spots and found great ones at the Sea Point Waterfront) and addresses that no guide tour would have given me (girl-to-girl best spots like shopping in the Watershed) but also lots of groovy attractions for the two of us. “

“I had a wonderful last minute week-end in London two months ago… Cmycities London helped me find a hotel, select a musical and recommended the Saatchi Gallery, which was really for me an amazing experience. I can only recommend Marie-Pascale, for the personal touch I am always looking for when I travel… and I can’t wait to travel again with Cmycities! “

“We had the most incredible experience in Paris a few weeks ago! The trip was a surprise long weekend for our 5 year-old daughter birthday and it was just perfect! Her eyes are still sparkling, maybe from seeing the Eiffel Tower?! We managed to keep a day out at Disneyland as a surprise. It’s a family trip we’ll never forget! “

“I only had a short stay in Sao Paulo but I was lucky to have Andre to show me around and point me in the right direction. He knows all the good spots and fun areas, and you can definitely tell how much he loves his city! I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible city!
I highly recommend getting in touch with him before your stay!
Thanks again Andre :)”
