Traveling started in a camper van for Montreal Destination Expert Nina Franchet but she didn’t get to Montreal in one…
“I’m French and grew up near Paris. I came to Montreal in 2007 for an internship. The company offered me a job and I came back to live and work here after my studies.
Montreal is a very dynamic city—there are many new restaurants opening, lots of new activities, festivals… There’s always something new to experience.
I think it’s important to be able to connect with people who live in the place you’re visiting, and to take time to experience a destination. A trip shouldn’t just be about visiting as many of the well-known places as possible! And the people in Montreal are friendly, open-minded and helpful.
When I was young, I was lucky that my parents broadened by outlook by taking me on trips to visit places in Europe. The great thing was we did them in a camping car! I guess that gave me a taste for finding out more about other places and people.
In recent years, I’ve chosen backpacking as a way of visiting a place, visiting Brazil, India and Mexico. India was probably the most striking because it was the most exotic and such a culture shock! But so worth it, I highly recommend it!
However the next vacation for me will be back in France, where I’ll be taking my husband and baby on a tour of some of the regional sites…in a camping car! So I’ve come full circle and can share with them the fond memories of the experience from my childhood, and maybe continue it for my own family!
I’d be very happy to tell you about it when you get in touch, and about all the things I can suggest you do when you come to visit Montreal.”
Nina speaks English and French, and has notions of Dutch and German.
“We flew like birds in Madrid with the teleferico across the casa del campo, gliding just above the houses and trees. Wonderful day!”

“My husband and I spent a week in Cape Town last march. Amber was my contact at Cmycities and I must say she was great helping us make our stay the most enjoyable possible! Amber is easy to get in touch with and is extremely reactive. She gave us tailor-made advices, as I had been in Cape Town only once, years ago (loved Green Market Square and the Truth Coffee).
I particularly appreciated her good tips (we were looking for running spots and found great ones at the Sea Point Waterfront) and addresses that no guide tour would have given me (girl-to-girl best spots like shopping in the Watershed) but also lots of groovy attractions for the two of us. “

“I had a wonderful last minute week-end in London two months ago… Cmycities London helped me find a hotel, select a musical and recommended the Saatchi Gallery, which was really for me an amazing experience. I can only recommend Marie-Pascale, for the personal touch I am always looking for when I travel… and I can’t wait to travel again with Cmycities! “

“We had the most incredible experience in Paris a few weeks ago! The trip was a surprise long weekend for our 5 year-old daughter birthday and it was just perfect! Her eyes are still sparkling, maybe from seeing the Eiffel Tower?! We managed to keep a day out at Disneyland as a surprise. It’s a family trip we’ll never forget! “

“I only had a short stay in Sao Paulo but I was lucky to have Andre to show me around and point me in the right direction. He knows all the good spots and fun areas, and you can definitely tell how much he loves his city! I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible city!
I highly recommend getting in touch with him before your stay!
Thanks again Andre :)”
