For Beirut Destination Expert Lama Wehbe, visiting places is a big part of her life. Oh, and wine! We’ll let her tell you about it…
“I was born in Beirut and grew up here, it has always been home. It’s a vibrant city, full of life, quite accessible, and easy to make your own. As they say in Italy, “a misura d’uomo” i.e. “to the measure of man”.
I went to live in Italy when I was 27, first to learn Italian, but then moved to Venice to do my Master’s degree. The three months I spent in Tuscany before that were utter bliss.
My parents played a big role in my travel education too. We’d usually take a vacation each year to a new place, and that opened my horizons and awakened my curiosity. Every place has been memorable in its own way (Paris, Bordeaux, the Swiss mountains, Salzburg, London, Scotland, Dubai, etc.)
I would love to explore new destinations but I also like going back to the places I really enjoyed, so it’s always hard to choose. Will it be Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Denmark, The Netherlands, Prague, Budapest, Tunisia, Japan, the Philippines, South Africa, New York or San Francisco…
My passion for wine and gastronomy will guide me in organising my next trip; so potential culinary experiences and trying unfamiliar food and wine plays a big part. One can travel the world in a bottle of wine! Interest in wine has led me to become involved in the world of this beverage, and therefore I am working on events and wine fairs. I love spending time at vineyards and wineries. I also freelance as a graphic and digital designer.
I also love music and am learning how to play jazz, having learned classical piano first. Taking photos is another passion, in addition to which I have a thing for language and etymology, and I love spending time by the sea.
Friends often visit from abroad and they find having someone they can rely on here reassuring, plus it helps them feel at home. It’s best to understand what they’d like to get out of their trip before helping them plan their days.
I’d love to hear about where you’ve been when we talk about your visit to Beirut!”

“We flew like birds in Madrid with the teleferico across the casa del campo, gliding just above the houses and trees. Wonderful day!”

“My husband and I spent a week in Cape Town last march. Amber was my contact at Cmycities and I must say she was great helping us make our stay the most enjoyable possible! Amber is easy to get in touch with and is extremely reactive. She gave us tailor-made advices, as I had been in Cape Town only once, years ago (loved Green Market Square and the Truth Coffee).
I particularly appreciated her good tips (we were looking for running spots and found great ones at the Sea Point Waterfront) and addresses that no guide tour would have given me (girl-to-girl best spots like shopping in the Watershed) but also lots of groovy attractions for the two of us. “

“I had a wonderful last minute week-end in London two months ago… Cmycities London helped me find a hotel, select a musical and recommended the Saatchi Gallery, which was really for me an amazing experience. I can only recommend Marie-Pascale, for the personal touch I am always looking for when I travel… and I can’t wait to travel again with Cmycities! “

“We had the most incredible experience in Paris a few weeks ago! The trip was a surprise long weekend for our 5 year-old daughter birthday and it was just perfect! Her eyes are still sparkling, maybe from seeing the Eiffel Tower?! We managed to keep a day out at Disneyland as a surprise. It’s a family trip we’ll never forget! “

“I only had a short stay in Sao Paulo but I was lucky to have Andre to show me around and point me in the right direction. He knows all the good spots and fun areas, and you can definitely tell how much he loves his city! I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible city!
I highly recommend getting in touch with him before your stay!
Thanks again Andre :)”
